childfree

I chose a picture of a beautiful library for this page because I wanted you to see how many stories there are. We are all unique and have the choice to lead unique lives of our choosing. Yet childfree people can face stigma and misunderstanding that can leave them feeling isolated and ashamed.

There are many reasons why childfree people can feel judged, including societal, religious, political, and familial factors. Seeking a therapist who is affirming of being childfree can help to transform feelings of shame, rejection, and othering into a sense of empowerment and possibility. Whether you are childfree by choice, circumstance, trying to decide what choice is right for you, (or another remarkable life situation I haven’t even thought of!), my therapy practice is a judgment-free zone for women who take the road less travelled.

Things childfree people might seek therapy for include —

  • Shame or judgment about being childfree

  • Feeling othered

  • Building a childfree life

  • Grief

  • Joy

  • Fear of aging

  • Relational conflict or estrangement
